Silver travertine
The Met x Eichholtz presents the Dining Table Florence, a sculptural design that channels the quiet strength and timeless simplicity of medieval architecture.
Crafted from silver travertine, this sculptural table is defined by its refined proportions and tactile stone texture. Its monolithic base and softened edges recall the timeless elegance of Romanesque architecture, translated into a statement piece that balances strength with subtlety.
HISTORIC PROVENANCE
The Dining Table Florence takes its design cues from a Catalan column shaft (ca. 1130–40) at The Cloisters, The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s location devoted to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages. The original marble-and-stone column shaft, made in present-day France, stands in the Museum’s Cuxa Cloister, which has been recreated with fragments of the 12th- century Benedictine monastery of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa. The Dining Table Florence takes on the serene, simple form of the Museum’s column shaft, and is carefully reimagined as an elegant travertine table.
